Informations

Stay alone or with your whole gang at the Aescher and experience the simplicity of the old days. In the morning we serve a delicious breakfast, which you can enjoy in good weather on the terrace with spectacular panoramic views! Below you will find an overview of our rooms.

The rooms are ready for occupancy from 4 pm and we are grateful if they are free for cleaning at 9 am at the latest on the day of departure.

House with history

An overnight stay with us will be an unforgettable experience for every guest and is worthwhile in any case. The Aescher is one of the oldest mountain guesthouses in Switzerland. Accordingly, the walls are thin and it crackles here and there. Every now and then, the evening in the inn gets longer and there is no official night's rest. If you are looking for a safe night's sleep, the Hermit lodge is the place to be.

We do not have guest wifi. Enjoy the peace and quiet, get away from it all and go offline.

Dinner

Dinner can be enjoyed à la carte. A table is reserved for overnight guests. Our warm kitchen is open until 8 pm.

Good to know

We are located at 1454 m above sea level. There it can be cold even in summer, as soon as the sun has said goodbye! It is best to bring something warm and cozy for the evening and night, as the house is not heated! Water is a rare resource on the Aescher, because we don't get it from a "normal" water pipe, but from our own reservoir in the Wildkirchli cave, which is fed by rainwater. Therefore, we are happy if you take a bath in the Seealpsee instead of a shower - that's much more fun anyway!!!

Hermit Lodge

Spend the night alone or as a couple in our two-settler hut and experience the simplicity of that time. The hut is located directly on the path from the Aescher to the Wildkirchli and offers a double bed, a folding table and a chair and space for your own thoughts about what you really need. Modern-traditional detoxing in Appenzeller style.

Overnight you can use the toilets in the guesthouse. For your daily hygiene we recommend the neighboring pool (Seealpsee) within 30 minutes walking distance. Tuesday and Thursday are material transport days. On these days a motorized barrow passes the hut in the early morning hours. Don't worry, this is the time not to be missed and to enjoy the sunrise.

Very classic and incredibly homey, the double room offers space for friends or lovers. Due to the charming atmosphere, our double room is perfect to recharge your batteries after a hard day on the mountain. Comforters are ready for you in the room.

Grouproom

Staying at the Aescher as a group or large family is possible in our mixed group room. Our room can accommodate up to 12 people and offers the perfect retreat after a day in the mountains. Marmot's place

Directly under the roof is a small space, which you can reach via a ladder. The cozy ambience offers space for up to three people. You are above the group room which means it is acoustically connected but has its own entrance and privacy. Please bring your linen sleeping bag (for hygiene). We will prepare the beds for you with pillows, sheets and blankets.

Your eagle's nest high above the Seealpsee

The Portaledge is a portable piece of horizontal equipment that climbers use to spend the night airy and exposed, but comfortable, when climbing very large walls. After an initial queasy feeling, the stay in the artificial ledge is simply unique and unforgettable. You float above the cliff, below you air, above you the stars and in front of you the whole Appenzellerland up to Lake Constance.

After an optional delicious dinner from the Aescher kitchen, which you can have either in the Ledge or in the restaurant, you and your adventurous companion make yourselves comfortable in the Eagle's Nest and enjoy the nightly view and peace of the Alpstein. The next morning the sun wakes you up and an incredible view takes your breath away. After a short abseil you will reach the Aescher restaurant in a few minutes, where you can end your nightly adventure with a hot coffee and a delicious breakfast.
